Remembering Jeannie

Wordox - Connectivity issues:

Description: Players are indicating they cannot get the Wordox applet to load and cannot get to the Wordox logon dialogue.

Symptom:

• Player gets a gray screen when trying to run the Wordox applet.

Proposed solution:

This example uses Internet Explorer as the browser.  

1. Set your browser to Work Offline  
   • Open a browser window.
   • Click on File.
   • Click on Work Offline.  If you don't see this option, open a browser window that does not have a java applet loaded.
2. From this window, do what you normally do to connect to Wordox.
   • It is necessary you use the link or links that  you normally employ to get to Wordox as this will enable your browser to use the cached applet information.
   • If you have never connected Wordox using these links, this method may not work.
3. A Link you may want to try: Room 2.

Note: It is strongly recommended that you do not set your homepage to the Wordox lobby page.  Why? When you set Wordox lobby as your homepage, your browser will attempt to load the Wordox lobby as soon as you open a new browser window  (and yes, you've guessed it, if your browser is not set to work  offline, it will attempt to reload the Wordox applet, hence overwriting the cached copy).

Wordox - SUN Java issues:

Description: A number of problems seem to point to the use of SUN as the java engine.

Symptoms:

• Player gets a gray screen when trying to run the Wordox applet.
• Player is unable to move tiles 
• Player cannot join games but must instead start their own game by joining an empty table first.
• Player gets "booted" from the lobby/game (not to be associated with network issues or a game administrator forced boot)

Proposed solution:

This example uses Internet Explorer as the browser.  

To get to the Internet Options, open an Internet Explorer window then click on Tools.  

1. Ensure you have not enabled Java Sun  as the java engine (as depicted below, ensure no checkmarks are placed under the section named Java (sun). If you do not have this section, proceed to steps that follows.
2. Ensure that Microsoft VM is enabled (as depicted below, ensure you have at least one checkmark beside JIT compilter for virtual machine enabled).
3. If you do not have Microsoft VM please click here to install it.

Recipe: Garf's own special filet of sole ( Filet of Sole a la Garf )

- cut filet into nice squares
- butter very little bottom of tray (i use porcelain.. very sophisticated!)
- add thin slices of orange and lemon
- add small shrimps to cover one layer thick only
- add the filet neatly
- lightly butter the filet
- add minced garlic, thin slices of onions
- optional: add spices (me use steak spice, it's the best, jerry, the best !!)
- add thin slices of lemon 
- top off with thin slices of oranges
- place in oven for 15 minutes
- serve on bed of rice 
- this dish makes a sauce, pour sauce on top of fish yummmm
